Jon "maddog" Hall, presidente da Linux International, divulga seu apoio a candidatura do sociólogo Sérgio Amadeu para compor a equipe do terceiro setor no Comite Gestor da Internet no Brasil - CGI-Br.
"I have been asked to write a letter of endorsement for Sergio Amadeu for Representative from the third sector position on the Brasilian Internet Steering Committee (CGI-Br). I have known Sergio for many years. When I first came to Brasil to speak about Linux and Free Software, Sergio was one of the first people to whom I was introduced. A university professor, he studied and taught sociology and political science. It was refreshing to find someone who studied and understood the social and political issues around Free Software, not just the technical issues. I was also impressed by the deep thought that Sergio gave to his discussions, and the tireless hard work he put into his job. Now we are entering a new age of the Internet where people and companies may try to limit the Freedom of and access to the Internet in the name of “efficiency”, when in reality they are throttling the Internet for their own purposes, limiting the Freedom of access to the Internet that we have all come to value. Having someone on the CGI-Br committee of Sergio's technical, social and political experience is very important for Brasil. The same thoughtful considerations that he gave to Free Software are now needed for the survival and flourishing of the Internet as we need for the future. I ask that you give him support in being elected to this position, and when elected, that you give him the support needed in protecting and advancing the Internet for all of Brasil, and for all of the world. Warmest regards, Jon “maddog” Hall"
